In
1986, this young man of 22 years, began a career in the trucking industry in the
Alberta Oil Patch. His name is Courtney Gillis, a committed, hard working man
who settled in Calgary to build a future for himself and his family.
A welder by trade, working for C.P. Rail, Courtney decided
that he wanted more out of life. It was time to enter the trucking industry.
Beside him through thick and thin is his beautiful wife Debbie. Debbie is the
financial controller for Ability Hauling and provides the company with all of
the accounting expertise, as well as lending her organizational skills.
Courtney purchased his first truck in 1986, a GMC Top Kick
single axel tractor. He began working in the Alberta Construction Industry. It
was not long until he needed to upgrade to a larger truck. That's when he
purchased a 1979 Mack. As time moved forward and industry expectations changed,
Courtney and Debbie purchased the equipment necessary to keep up.
In 1986 Ability Hauling & Hot Shot Ltd was incorporated and
began the journey to become a top competitor in the transportation of oil & gas
production equipment, along with servicing the drilling industry providing heavy
hauling and hot shot service.
As the industry grew, so did Ability Hauling with the
addition of first rate equipment and personnel. Ability Hauling came to include
10 power units along with many different specialized trailers and other pieces
of equipment.
Ability Hauling continues to put the customer first and
prides themselves on the values of which Courtney and Debbie began 18 years ago,
Honesty, Hard work, Commitment and Integrity.
